Ear Wax Removal
Ear wax is one of those things people deal with all the time without really knowing why.
Basically, ear wax is a substance produced inside your ear canal, in order to keep other things OUT of your ear canal. As it makes its way out into the bowl of your ear, the wax takes dirt, dust and bacteria out with it. Ear wax also helps protect your ears with lubrication.
If the body produces too much ear wax, it can block sound from getting through the ear canal. Trying to clean the ears by inserting cotton swabs into the ear canal is another way to cause a blockage; it can literally push ear wax further into the canal. When either of those situations occurs, you need an easy, painless ear wax removal procedure. We have all the training and equipment required to take care of it for you.
How do you know if you have an ear wax blockage? Sometimes you can feel that your ears are stopped up. Other symptoms include, muffled hearing, dizziness and ear pain.
Please do not try to remove impacted ear wax on your own. That can make the blockage worse, as well as damage the ear drum. We don’t recommend over-the-counter methods, either. The only way to ensure safe and complete removal of an ear wax blockage is to have it treated by a trained professional.
By the way, you may have heard about a process called “ear candling” in which a hollow wax tube is placed into the ear canal and lit at the outside end. It sounds a bit ridiculous because it is. There is no evidence to suggest that there is any benefit to it. In fact, it can result in melted wax entering the ear canal.
